HKS SOURCING
M-DA-H-F5 220 Rotary Actuator
The M-DA-H-F5 220 is a mobile-version helical hydraulic rotary actuator in HKS's M-DA-H programme (German maker); HKS writes this base size as M-DA-H-F5 220 for the foot-mount build and M-DA-H-F10 220 for the flange-mount build, where the S2 straddle option is not available. HKS uses its own bore/housing size numbers; the code is a size designation, not a torque figure and not a Helac size number, rated at about 14100 Nm output torque at 210 bar, with 220 kg at 180 degrees and 290 kg at 360 degrees. The maker's table lists 180° / 360° builds for this base size. In the controlled cross-reference it sits in the ~14100 Nm torque class together with: Helac L30-125 (~14100 Nm); Moveco RR58 (~14100 Nm); Moveco RR61 (~14100 Nm). These are same-torque-class engineering references only. HM Hydraulics provides technical selection support and sourcing / alternative-supply service for this reference. We do not hold it as a stocked SKU and do not promise stock, lead time or confirmed availability; configuration, mounting dimensions and drawings are checked on request against your actuator nameplate before any quotation.

HMR4-1400 — the same 14,100 Nm torque class
This reference sits in the 14,100 Nm class. The closest HM model is HMR4-1400 — Helical, L30-style heavy-duty — in the same torque class. The table shows what carries over and what still has to be checked on your unit.

What carries over
- Torque class and rated pressure (210 bar).
- Helical, L30-style heavy-duty architecture.
- Rotation: 180/360° available on the HMR4 series. A 180/90 code is a 180° unit with the stop set at 90°, not a separate build.
What has to be verified
- Shaft / output flange interface and spline.
- Mounting bolt pattern and pilot register.
- Port size and position, plus valve arrangement (NV / CB / CS).
- Overall envelope and tie-rod clearance.
Comparable performance based on rated torque class for engineering comparison. The mounting interface must be confirmed by our engineering team before quotation.
Code anatomy
What each part of this code means
Every segment below is read from the manufacturer’s published ordering key. Where a segment is not published, we say so instead of guessing — those are the ones to confirm from the tag or the drawing before ordering.
M-DA-H-F5 220
HKS DA-H family
| Segment | Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| M-DA-H-F5 | Series / mounting | M-DA-H-F5 — foot-mount variant of the DA-H body |
| 220 | Size | Size number 220 — sets the displacement and the torque class |
Valve, seal and shaft options on HKS units are coded inside the FU / S9xxxx material number, not in the model code — those are confirmed from the tag or the material list.

What the 180° / 360° sweep changes on this build
This reference is listed with more than one sweep. The sweep is part of the build identity, so the unit on the machine has to be identified by its own setting before anything is matched.
- Read the stop positions off the mounting drawing before ordering — do not infer them from the code alone.
- Ask why the original used this sweep; a non-standard angle usually answers a linkage constraint that a standard unit will not fit.
- Confirm the sweep on the unit tag matches the code, since special builds are sometimes re-stopped in service.
When this sweep is the right build
- Linkages whose geometry was designed around this exact sweep — the stop positions usually answer a clearance or interference constraint.
- Rebuild work where the surrounding mechanism has to stay unchanged, so the sweep cannot be normalised to 180° or 360°.
- OEM builds where the sweep was specified by the machine maker rather than chosen from a catalogue.
Confirming the sweep on the machine
- Measure the swing between the mechanical end stops on the machine, not between the positions the linkage happens to use.
- Compare the measured swing with the code on the tag; special builds are sometimes re-stopped in service.
How the sweep sits in the order code
The sweep is the fifth segment of the code, and here it carries a value outside the standard range. That value is a build instruction, not a selection from a list: it has to travel with the enquiry together with the stop positions, because the stop tube is cut for it.
Where these two builds get mixed up
- A full-turn unit is sometimes quoted where the linkage only swings half a turn, which over-travels the hose loop for no benefit.
- If a full-turn unit will not pass a quarter or half turn under load, the cause is usually hose routing or an external stop, not the actuator.
We do not publish a conversion table between sweeps. If the sweep on your unit differs from the code above, send the tag and the mounting drawing and the build is confirmed against them.

| Cross reference | All references below are engineering cross-references by torque class from HM's controlled multi-brand database; they are not validated substitutions. Same torque class (comparable rated output; independent housing and mounting designs - do not assume matching dimensions): Helac L30-125 (~14100 Nm); Moveco RR58 (~14100 Nm); Moveco RR61 (~14100 Nm). HM has no supply-verified interchange record for any of these pairings, so the highest claim we make is 'same torque class / comparable'; nothing is presented as a verified interchangeable unit. |

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does the M-DA-H-F5 220 replace?+
It is the original HKS model code for a helical hydraulic rotary actuator providing 180° / 360° rotation. HM provides sourcing and alternative-supply support for this reference; it is not assumed to be an original HKS part or a pre-verified interchangeable unit, and the configuration is confirmed against your actuator nameplate and drawing before we quote. HM can source or arrange alternative supply for this reference; mounting dimensions, shaft, ports and the exact configuration are checked against your unit and drawing before any alternative is recommended.
Can HM supply the M-DA-H-F5 220?+
HM provides technical selection and a sourcing / alternative-supply route for the M-DA-H-F5 220 base size. We do not keep stock and do not promise availability or lead time; the exact HKS configuration (S1/S2, rotation direction, valve and seal options folded into the FU/S9xxx code) is confirmed against your nameplate, with the factory when needed, before we quote.
What is the difference between M-DA-H-F5 220 and M-DA-H-F10 220?+
Same base size and the same performance table; the difference is mounting. M-DA-H-F5 is the foot-mount build and takes the S1 cantilever or S2 straddle option. M-DA-H-F10 is the flange-mount build, and the S2 straddle option is not available with flange mounting. Moment capacity, torque, displacement and weight are otherwise identical.
Which Helac and Moveco sizes sit in the same torque class as the M-DA-H-F5 220?+
In HM's controlled cross-reference the ~14100 Nm class holds Helac L30-125 and the Moveco RR58 / RR61 pair alongside the M-DA-H-F5 220. They are comparable in rated output only: housing, mounting interface, shaft and port layout are independent designs, so we check those against your unit before saying anything about fit.
What information does HM need before quoting this actuator?+
Send us the actuator nameplate (brand, full model code, rotation, mounting, shaft and port details) and, if available, a mounting drawing. HM then confirms the exact configuration and advises the available sourcing or alternative-supply option. Mounting dimensions and drawings are provided on request only. HKS folds valve and seal options into the FU requirement code and the S9xxx material number; a complete HKS order code must be confirmed with HKS for each requirement (torque, rotation, S1/S2, rotation direction, valve, seal).
Why is the exact HM model and price not shown?+
We confirm the HM model per inquiry after verifying the interface and operating parameters with you. This avoids shipping a part that looks right by model name but differs in mounting or rotation. Price is provided with that confirmed quote.
